If you use this site to practice, please give me your feedback. I used it to prepare for my exam and I think it helped a lot. You should be able to access your consultation videos from your user page, but if you have problems, just let me know and I can arrange them for you. We are basically getting the site ready for its final release but in the meantime, a lot of stuff, we're just doing manually.
awesome. Thanks! Love this site. You guys rock!
video and microphone not working. I can see and hear the pt, but he could not see or hear me. all permissions enabled, latest version of chrome, on win 8.1 pro. help!
Did they work on the site before? Have you tried using either/both on a different application? For example, try Skype, just to make sure that your hardware is working properly. It is possible that (i) log-out, (ii) close Chrome, (iii) reopen Chrome, (iv) login again... may solve the problem. That or a reboot (I assume that was your first thought lol)
I can do one or two cases. You should really post on facebook groups like https://www.facebook.com/groups/22598399365/ and https://www.facebook.com/groups/findOSCE/ and https://www.facebook.com/groups/22598399365/ and etcetera...
You'll find partners there to practice cases with.
I think a common mistake that a lot of people make Is OVERTHINKING!! Pretend you're a monkey. They come in with a major complaint and then you find out some other "problem". It's as simple as saying to EVERY PATIENT, "So, if I understand correctly, you came in because of MAJOR COMPLAINT, and we're also thinking about this OTHER symptom. Is that correct? Is there anything else you wanted to talk about?"
Just be a monkey and repeat what they tell you!!
Don't try to diagnose them... this is not a test of medical genius.
You'll do great!!! You really just need to stay super cool and go into each room with a fresh mind... the mnemonics help a lot! "I'm going to ask you a bunch of questions now. Please just answer me yes or no. If I'm going too fast, you can tell me to slow down! Do you have any recent trauma? Headache? Swelling anywhere in your body? Nausea? Vomiting? Etc..." Use that "BLUE SHEET CS MNEMONIC" that everyone seems to have. Memorize it THEN FR CS PUB SAW ID... PAM HITS FOSS
Sanitizer definitely... unless you find that washing your hands with soap and water then drying off helps you "center" yourself... like catch your breath or think clearly for a second.
I don't think you'll really need to do rebound tenderness at all. If someone has a real abdomen, you're probably gonna know. You won't need "rebound" to clinch it, because you don't need to clinch. I'm not saying "DON'T DO REBOUND!" but I'm just saying, your goal is to use the short time you have to be very focused and show that you are comfortable with the patient's body, while being respectful.
If it's an appendix, you're gonna know from the history. I don't think you'll need to do much of anything that is uncomfortable for the patient. If they're experiencing knee pain, I'm not really going into a gruelling examination of active and passive ROM in the knee. "Patient exhibited pain and resistance on attempted passive extension" (if that) - "Knee was painful on movement" is probably good enough lol
Hi Not J! Sorry I missed your message. Although we are totally live and running for students to use with their friends, our social-networking aspects are still in progress. For the time being, we are recommending people to use the site with their colleagues; and take advantage of our scripts, our in-line note-taking system and the fact that all of your consultations are available for future video review. Your notes will be automatically sent to you by email. You're also welcome to reach out to me directly, because I'm happy to do a consultation with you or help you find someone! firstname.lastname@example.org
Hi Bobby! It is a CS-prep application, but also a prep site to improve your confidence in the clinic. You can just work with your friends (and strangers) here and either follow the scripts or use your own!
Oh... and it's totally free! Please enjoy at your leisure.
Hi Doctors! Thanks for requesting a tutor. It's a new feature and we're still figuring out how these alerts work. Please check your emails; you should have received instructions to connect with a tutor. Please let me know here if there is anything else we can do for you.
Happy to report that the TUTOR request is working.
Welcome to the gang, Carl! We're happy to have you on board. I hope users will ask you questions here in the chat... please tell them about the free virtual consultation for all students!
For some reason, it didn't come to my email but I do recall seeing it on the admin side of the site. Did you receive a copy by email? I'm going to pull it up right now and I can send a copy to you as well with my feedback! I think you did a great job, by the way. You're very confident and you keep control of the interaction while making the patient feel like they can speak freely!! Good work!
Yup. Me too. I wonder why it didn't capture the consultation that you typed for the email. That's a glitch on our end. We've gotta figure out what happened there. I'm going to send you what we've got by email right now.
I just realized, it might be misbehaving because I'm at a location with borderline non-existent wifi... I'm switching to my phone's service... maybe t-mobile can do better than this cafe.
yeah maybe that is why, you're right
Hi Yoav - I hope you are able to find a partner to practice in person. This site is designed to let you practice with friends and new friends by webcam by using our scripts. I'd be happy to practice a case with you. I'll have some time on the weekend!!

Hey all! I'm a Lead Educator here at YourFirstPatient and I work closely with CSRxTutors.com to bring you the best studying material for the Step 2 CS! If you are online and no tutors are available, feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I'll set you up ASAP! Good luck studying!
Hello, anyone else has been using Amboss for Step 2 CS?
Basically, YourFirstPatient uses videocam to replicate the experience of taking the Step 2 CS part of the USMLE. A YourFirstPatient tutor will connect with you over video and act as a patient in order for you to practice interacting with patients and diagnosing their illnesses.
I got to watch a little bit of your first few sessions together and it looks like you're doing well. You're obviously a brilliant physician so I'm sure Lux will want to spend a lot of time working on your "style" so that you can approach the patients with "American style" ;) You'll do great!
Spoken English is a big problem LOL
It's not as bad as you think. Also, you'll get comfortable using the same SCRIPTED language for every case!
Scripted language just means that you'll use the same GENERAL script for every patient for many things like introductions, transitioning, summarizing, closure... etc...
That way, you can become very comfortable with the parts of the communication that are repetitive. You don't need to think about how to introduce yourself clearly and confidently, for example.
